GHANA HIGH COMMISSION ENGAGES WITH NAUS LEADERSHIP ON RECENT CONCERNS

6 Aug, 2025 General

On 5 August 2025, the Ghana High Commission in Abuja received a delegation from the National Association of University Students (NAUS), Nigeria, following concerns raised on social media regarding the “Nigeria Must Go” slogan and a protest that took place in Ghana on 29 July 2025.

Mr. Eddison Agbenyegah, Acting Head of Mission, reassured the NAUS representatives of Ghana’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety, rights, and protection of all residents, including Nigerians. He clarified that the recent protest was linked to specific grievances and drew limited participation, stressing that such actions do not represent the general views of the Ghanaian people.

The Mission encouraged NAUS leadership to remain in close contact with the National Association of Nigerian Students in Ghana (NANS-GH) and to exercise caution in sharing content from social media, as some materials in circulation were outdated or misleading and could create unnecessary alarm.

NAUS leadership acknowledged these concerns and assured the High Commission that they would verify information before dissemination and sensitise their members to rely on credible sources.
