Ghana High Commission Celebrates the Esama of Benin City, Sir (Chief) Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion

The High Commission of Ghana, ably represented by Dr. Tenewa Asamoah (Acting Head of Mission) and Mr. Emmanuel Amoakohene Bempah (Head of Chancery), joined a section of the Diplomatic Community to participate in the cultural celebrations marking the 91st birthday of Sir (Chief) Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom.

Sir (Chief) Dr. Igbinedion is a prominent Nigerian businessman, philanthropist, and traditional leader, known for his significant contributions to the economic and social development of Edo State and Nigeria as a whole. Born on June 11, 1936, in Benin City, he is the founder of the Igbinedion University, the first private university in Nigeria, which has played a crucial role in advancing higher education in the country.

Igbinedion is also recognized for his extensive investments in various sectors, including education, healthcare, and real estate. His philanthropic efforts have had a considerable impact on community development, focusing on healthcare and educational initiatives that benefit the underprivileged.
