The Ghana High Commission in Abuja, on Tuesday, 16th June 2026, welcomed students and teachers of the Nigeria-Ghana International School to the Chancery for an educational and cultural visit.
The visit forms part of the High Commission’s continued efforts to engage young people and foster a deeper appreciation of Ghana-Nigeria relations among the next generation. The students were taken on a guided tour of the Chancery, during which they were introduced to the functions and operations of the Mission, including its role in consular services and the promotion of bilateral cooperation between Ghana and Nigeria.
As part of the programme, officials of the High Commission delivered a briefing on the historical, economic, and socio-cultural ties that underpin the longstanding friendship between Ghana and Nigeria. The students were further briefed on Ghana’s standing as the Gateway to Africa, highlighting the country’s political stability, robust economic policies, and strategic location as key factors that have positioned Ghana as a preferred hub for trade, investment, and diplomacy on the continent.
During the presentations, a number of fun facts about Ghana were shared, including its status as the first sub-Saharan African country to gain independence in 1957, its renown as one of the world’s leading producers of cocoa, and its rich Kente cloth heritage, among other interesting facts on Ghana’s history and culture.
The visit also provided an interactive forum, during which students engaged the Mission’s staff with questions on various aspects of Ghana, including its culture and history. The High Commission commended the students for their enthusiasm and inquisitiveness throughout the engagement.
In keeping with the spirit of cultural exchange, the students and teachers were also given the opportunity to sample a selection of Ghanaian delicacies, including locally produced snacks, offering them a firsthand taste of Ghana’s rich culinary heritage.
